* Cons: No individual instruments, woodwinds are mixed. * Pros: Beautiful sound straight out of the box, very good value for money, easy to use on Kontakt. I have read the forum a lot lately to get a picture of the sample libraries available, and there seem to be four possible approaches to start making orchestral stuff, with different pros and cons. As for computer, soundcard and DAW, I am going to think about them once I have decided on the starting VIs. Therefore the learning curve, regarding both the sample libraries and audio editing, is a relevant question. Working full time elsewhere, I have limited time to spend to composing, yet would be eager to get my feet wet soon in actually making music for some visual media, for example minor indie games. Orchestral sounds will be the backbone of the music I am going to make, so I am now concentrating on selecting the first orchestral VI setting carefully. I have a background in classical music and composing, with some composing and orchestration studies, and do have experience with MIDI and sequencers, but in virtual instruments and other audio technology I am still a total beginner (here I introduced myself in more detail: ). For some years now, I have thought about doing VI music some day, and now the time has come to start making purchasing decisions.
